We quite often get asked how to sex a chinchilla so here are a couple of photos to help you sex your chinchilla 

You will need to hold your chinchilla at the base of their tail near to their bottom and turn them forward so you are raising their bottom to look underneath them, most chinchillas are not bothered by this being done although if you hold them in that position for too long they will not be very impressed (which is not surprising)

You can see that the female has no gap where as the male has a gap.

We will do our best to add photos of kit's just after being born so you can sex them from a younger age aswell
